Dr. Yiğit Can Altan received his Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Boğaziçi University in 2007. He received his Master's and Ph.D. degrees from Boğaziçi University Civil Engineering Department with a specialization in Coastal Engineering in 2009 and 2016. In his Master's and Doctorate theses, he worked on emergency response plans for oil spill accidents and the quantification of accident probabilities with real maritime traffic data. He completed his post-doctoral studies at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU \ e) on Urban Physics and Wind Engineering and focused on modeling the Atmospheric Boundary Layer. Dr. Altan's interests are big data management, computational fluid dynamics, urban physics, maritime traffic, air pollution and risk calculations due to maritime traffic.
